Bought in for $20, cashed out at $42.
Tonight I lost a lot of money in two hands that I should have layed down, one being AK, the hand of the night, the other hand was AQ.
The first hand was AK. I was in late position and I raised, my brother called. The flop came Q, x, x. He bet, I called hoping to catch a pair on the turn. Turn brought another rag, he checked, I checked. This was a mistake. I should have raised at this point to see where I was at. If he called or re-raised I would have known my AK wasn't any good. The river brought another blank. He bet, I called, he showed his Qs, A kicker.
The second hand was a multiway pot, I held AQ in late position...I raised, got three callers, Tommy & Fagone in the blinds, and Keith UG. The flop brought two Ks and a rag. I bet, Tommy went all in (he was short stacked), Fagone called, Keith called, and this is where I should have folded...but for some reason I didn't, I called. With three playes in the pot it was obvious someone was holding a K...so why didn't I fold? The next two streets brought rags and F, K, and I checked to the end. T showed his third K and took the pot. Fagone had nothing, Keith had pocket Qs.
One of the golden rules I've been trying to stick to is fold when you know you are beat (especially true with big hole cards because it's tough to lay down a big hand and sticking around will only hurt your stack).
Tonight seemed to be the night of Big Slick. We saw this hand 5 or 6 times and each time it was a losing hand. This morning on the way to work I started to read about AK in the tournament section of the book I'm reading. Even though last night was not a tournament, a lot of the points were relevant for cash games. If only I had come to that section yesterday. HA.
I changed my game a bit tonight, playing more aggressively, and for the most part it payed off (excluding the above mentioned hands). Each time I play it's a learning experience, losing helps because the wrong moves I make stick in my mind, and I'll be less likely to repeat them.

That's true. That's what I said.
